Tesla recommends servicing brakes every 12 months or 20,000 kms in cold weather regions. Here in Vancouver, we often see serious corrosion buildup on the pads and calipers that can cause uneven and premature brake wear. In extreme cases, braking performance is also impacted. Check out this video to see a prime example of why you should service your brakes regularly. This Model S caliper hasn't been serviced in a while and it shows!
Today, we swapped out the rear subframe on a Model 3, which required removing the entire rear drive unit assembly. While this job may seem like a lot of work, it's actually quite straightforward. It's important to note that even though it's mainly a mechanical repair, it still requires powering down the high voltage system to make it safe to disconnect the rear motor assembly. Only technicians that are HV certified should be performing this job.
Wheel alignments are an important part of vehicle maintenance. Not only do they help with vehicle handling, they maintain overall health of the tires allowing them to perform optimally. Ensuring your vehicle is aligned by a Tesla trained technician will ensure that your steering angle off-set has been reset and ride height calibration has been performed if needed.
